This is the second semester of calculus-based physics. Topics covered include thermodynamics, electrostatics, electrodynamics, magnetism, and optics. If time permits, we will do a little special relativity. This course is designed primarily for physics majors, engineering students, and chemistry majors, and that is primarily who takes it.
The grading goes as follows:
| Tests |
60% |
| Homework |
15% |
| Final
Exam |
25% |
| TOTAL |
100% |
The text for the course is Fundamentals
of Physics, 6th or
7th edition, by Halliday, Resnick, and Walker.
The ISBN numbers are:
| 6th ed |
978-0-471-44730-6 |
| 7th ed |
978-0-471-21643-8 |
This is likely the same text you used in PHYS 103. The homework questions and problems will be assigned from WebAssign, which is an on-line homework system you probably used in PHYS 103. I will tell you more about it in class.
The tests will be given on the following dates:

Wed, 9/19 |
| Test 2 |
Wed, 10/10 |

There will be a comprehensive final
exam on Wednesday,
December 12,
