Welcome to PHYS 101 for Fall 2007


This is the first semester of algebra-based physics.  Topics covered include 1D kinematics, vectors, 2D kinematics, Newton's laws, circular motion, work, energy, momentum, torque, angular momentum, gravitation, simple harmonic motion, fluids, and possibly waves.  This course is designed primarily for health science majors, and that is primarily who takes it.

You should feel free to ask a question at any time either in class or out of class.  I am around most of the day most days.  I can be reached at the e-mail address and phone number on my home page (see link below).

The text for the course is Physics, 6th  or 7th edition, by Cutnell and Johnson.  The ISBN numbers are:

6th ed:

7th ed:
978-0-471-66315-7


You should buy either, but not both.  The homework questions and problems will be assigned from an on-line service called WebAssign.

The FINAL EXAM will be on Monday, December 10, 2007, from 8:00 - 10:00 am in Herak 245.  It is a comprehensive final exam.
